Updates from the LTST Directors - June 26, 2023
Dear Seahorse Families,
Congratulations to the small but mighty group of Seahorses who swam in this weekend’s Battle of the Ages invitational meet. And we hope the rest of the team enjoyed a full week off from swim meets!
The coming week brings the annual social meet against our neighbors at Rancho Colorados on Wednesday. For those who are new to the team, the meet against Rancho is always followed by a fun dance party for the whole family! In the interest of allowing time for the party, there will be no relays. Individual swims are limited to two per swimmer unless the swimmer also swims IM. Those swimmers may swim three events.
Other info:
DCSL CHAMPIONSHIP MEET
- Declare now! Head over to the Signup Calendar to declare that your swimmer is attending our Championship meet. It’s the most important meet of the season - and we always strive for 100% participation. Every swimmer counts - truly!
- DCSL Parent Job signups will open soon. Please be on the lookout for more information. ALL participating families, including those families with Star Jobs during the regular season, are required to work a Parent Job shift related to the DCSL Championship. Families with 15-18 y/o swimmers only (no younger siblings in other age groups) are excused from work assignments. Thank you in advance for your support.
- Moving truck: Does anyone have access to a small box truck (and/or large pickup truck) that could be available on July 28 and 29? If so, please reach out to Marisa - [email protected]. Our team’s primary responsibility at the Championship Meet this year is Setup / Takedown. Some of our tasks will include transporting temporary fencing, pop-up tents, starting blocks, etc. If you are able to offer a helpful vehicle, we would love to hear from you.
TUESDAY, JUNE 27 - a very BUSY day!
- Picture Day: APVisions Photography will be onsite at LT to take swimmers’ photos from 8:30 AM - 12:30 PM. Please see the suggested (alphabetical) schedule and additional details on the website calendar. An info sheet from the photography company is HERE. They will take individual and buddy / sibling photos. The individual photos will be used to create a composite whole-team photo. Please have your swimmer wear their team suit. Mudskippers and Sea Ponies are included in this activity. If your Mudskipper / Sea Pony does not own a team suit, please have them wear their 2023 LTST t-shirt. Pre-Ordering photo packages is strongly encouraged - do so by visiting the APVisions website HERE.
- 11/12 Age Group Social: The Spirit and Social team are hosting a special event for the 11/12 swimmers, from 4pm-5:30pm. Join us for games, friends, and treats - it will be fun! No RSVP needed - see you there.
- Snack Shack Tuesday: The Snack Shack Tuesday team will be selling lunch meals again on Tuesday! We encourage you to purchase a Tuesday Lunch Punch Card online now - no need to remember cash or carry any cards on Tuesday. All the details are on the Punch Card link.
LTST @ MEADOW, JULY 1
Our last dual meet before the holiday break is on Saturday, July 1 at Meadow Swim & Tennis Club in Orinda. Meet entry will be open until Wednesday - please be sure to declare your swimmer as soon as possible. Meadow is a large, competitive team - we would love Las Trampas to show a great turnout!
HOLIDAY BREAK
There will be no Swim Team practices or meets July 2 - July 5. Practice resumes July 6. The deadline to declare for the July 8 meet against Walnut Country is July 5 (following our typical Wednesday / Saturday deadline pattern).
There will be no Mudskipper / Sea Pony practice the entire week of July 3. MS/SP practice resumes on Monday, July 10.
FASTEST KNOWN TIMES
Thanks to Coach Andrew, Andy Uffelman and Matt Worster, LTST’s Fastest Known Times are posted at the pool. Check them out on the bulletin board - there have been quite a few updates since last year, in part because Andrew discovered long-lost County Meet programs from many years ago, uncovering times that were not previously on our radar. (They were achieved long before Meet Mobile, Acorn Swim, or SwimTopia!)
Many hours of work have been poured into the project of documenting the top 10 times in each age group / event. These lists allow us to acknowledge and celebrate not only our most recent record holders, but many other strong LT swimmers who have made memorable contributions to the team over the years. For anyone interested in stats and team history, these lists are fun to check out.
The Fastest Known Times will be updated again at the end of the season.
Thanks for reading. See you at the pool!
Marisa and Dana
