Updates from the LTST Directors - July 14, 2023

Hi Seahorse Families,

We have a few last-minute notes to share with you.

Shade at Forest Hills tomorrow

It’s going to be hot again! In an effort to create efficient, shared shade in the visiting team area at Forest Hills (which is the upper grass hillside), we would like to bring our LT pop-up tents to the meet. If you have a large vehicle and are willing to help transport pop-up tents, please head to LT tomorrow morning at 7:15 AM. Load up a tent (or 2, if you can fit them!  They will be in the storage shed.) We can all work together to set up and break down at Forest Hills.

Reminder, the meet starts early at 8:30 AM.  Good for beating the heat, tough for getting kids out the door on time.  We'll see you for warm-ups at 8:00.

Tom Shields Swim Clinic at Rancho Colorados - Sunday, July 16

Register HERE!

Our friends at Rancho Colorados have invited LT swimmers to join a swim clinic featuring members of the Cal Bears men’s and women's swim teams, led by Olympic Gold Medalist, Tom Shields. Tom will lead demonstrations and instructions, talk specifically about mindset and goals, and will have his medals out for viewing (see attached flyer). Get ready to interact with elite college swimmers and hear from the country’s best—learn their approach to swimming fast and underwater swimming, receive stroke guidance, and leave inspired to make the most of the rest of the season.

The clinics are geared toward and recommended for swimmers 7 years old and older.

  • Date: Sunday, July 16
  • Session 1 for 9 and Ups: 11:00 a.m.—1:00 p.m.
  • Session 2 for 10 and Unders*: 1:30–3:30 p.m.
  • Cost: $110 per swimmer for the 2 hr clinic

This clinic is limited to 40 swimmers per session.  Remember to bring a cap or T-shirt for autographs!  Clinic Guidelines below.  Any participants who do not follow the guidelines will be asked to leave.

  • No posting of photos or videos to social media

Spirit Carnival

Thanks so much to the Kids Spirit / Social Coordinators: Irene Henry, Yola Lerch, and Erin Silva - the Spirit Carnival was tons of fun! In our next email, we’ll update everyone with the spirit points that each team earned.

Coach Appreciation Week

We are so fortunate to have engaging, spirited, and caring Coaches leading our swim team. They have helped our swimmers learn, succeed, and develop a love for our team and sport. Let’s take an opportunity to show them how much they mean to us!

July 24-28 is Spirit Week, and will also be our first Coach Appreciation Week. If you would like to participate, please encourage your swimmer to do or bring a little something on the day that is assigned to their age group. Some ideas are a handmade card, snack, gift card, or treat - encourage your swimmer to be creative!

  • Monday, July 24 - 13 & Up
  • Tuesday, July 25 - 11/12
  • Wednesday, July 26 - 9/10
  • Thursday, July 27 - 7/8
  • Friday, July 28 - 6 & Under

Our Coaches are: Andrew, Audrey, Ben, Emma, Kiera, Megan, Tabi, Chloe, Harriet and Samuel.  Elizabeth is our Sea Pony Coach who also helps at swim meets!

Thanks for reading.  Go Seahorses!
