Dear Seahorse Families,

We have a very busy week ahead, and want to make sure that you have all these great events and activities on your radar. This is a long email but hopefully gives you a comprehensive preview of the fun coming up.

Coach Appreciation Week, July 24-28

July 24-28 will be our first Coach Appreciation Week. Please encourage your swimmer to do or bring a little something on the day that is assigned to their age group. Some ideas are a handmade card, snack, gift card, or treat - encourage your swimmer to be creative!

• Monday, July 24 - 13 & Up
• Tuesday, July 25 - 11/12
• Wednesday, July 26 - 9/10
• Thursday, July 27 - 7/8
• Friday, July 28 - 6 & Under

Our Coaches are: Andrew, Audrey, Ben, Emma, Kiera, Megan, Tabi, Chloe, Harriet and Samuel.  Coach Elizabeth is our Sea Pony Coach who also helps at swim meets!

Spirit Week, July 24-28

Spirit Week is our opportunity to get fired up for the DCSL Championship and celebrate being Las Trampas Seahorses!

Monday, July 24

• CAR DECORATING, 8:30am-1:30pm. Let’s get your family ride looking spirited! We will provide car paints and seahorse stencils in the parking lot. Bring your own artistic flair!

Tuesday, July 25

• MUDSKIPPER / SEA PONY DEBUT + SPIRIT RELAYS, 11:00am-1:00pm. Our swim team swimmers will alternate between cheering for Mudskippers and Sea Ponies showing off their skills, and competing in silly relays!
• TUESDAY MODIFIED PRACTICE SCHEDULE:
  • 15-18 and 13/14 Girls: 7:45am - 8:25am
  • 13/14 Boys and 11/12: 8:25am - 9:05am
  • 9/10: 9:05am - 9:45am
  • 7/8: 9:45am - 10:25am
  • 6 & Unders: 10:25am - 11:00am
• There is no Mudskipper / Sea Pony practice on Tuesday, just the Debut. This is the last day of the Mudskipper and Sea Pony programs.
• July 25 is also our final Snack Shack Tuesday! 11:30am - 1:00pm.

Wednesday, July 26

• NAILS AND GLITTER TATTOOS, 8:30am - 11:00am. Show your team spirit with nail painting and glitter tattoos. Fun for swimmers, siblings, and parents too.
• SENIORS AND SEA PONIES, 5:30pm. Join us in honoring our graduating Seahorse Seniors at the meet against Walnut Creek Swim Club, beginning at 5:30pm at LT. Our Sea Ponies, who have worked so hard to develop their skills this summer, will also be participating in the meet by swimming a 25 yard Freestyle. The future of LTST is bright!

Thursday, July 27

• POP PUNCH AND DONUTS, 8:30am-1:00pm.  Before or after their regular practice, swimmers can grab a cup of Pop Punch and a tasty treat.
• FAMILY SPIRIT NIGHT
  • Pre-Order Dinner from El Paisa Taqueria HERE. $17 per adult; $10 per child (10 and under). Pre-order is required, and the order deadline is Monday at 5pm. There is no need to select your menu items in advance.  
  • Sign up for the Cake Decorating Contest HERE. There is also a signup poster at the pool.  Sign up to create a cake using this year's "Off to the Races" theme as inspiration! Prizes will be awarded in several categories (judged by the Coaches), and the cakes will be served to attendees of Family Spirit Night.  Feel free to work with friends. List the name(s) of the pastry chef(s) who are responsible for your creation on the Signup Genius.
  • Sign up for the Family Relay HERE. Our friendly-competitive, annual family race is a 100 yard Medley Relay. If your family would like to participate, please sign up at the link above. You'll have a chance for your team name to be on the coveted Family Relay Trophy!

Family Relay Rules:

• At least 2 members of your relay team must be current LTST swimmers.
• Each relay team must have 4 members.
• Members of up to 2 families may combine to make a relay team. When combining 2 families to make a team, no more than 3 LTST swimmers may be on that team. (There must be at least 1 parent/grandparent/relative).
• There are a limited number of family relay heats. Priority will be given to relay teams with swimmers who are Attending the DCSL Championship meet.
• In the Signup Genius "comments" section, please list the members of your team.

Family Spirit Night approximate timeline:

• 5:30pm - El Paisa Taqueria dinner (available via pre-order only), display of Cake Decorating Contest entries
• 6:30pm - Family Relay warm-ups
• 7:00pm - Family Relay Prelims
• 7:30pm - Cake Decorating Contest winners announced
• 7:45pm - Family Relay Finals
• 8:15pm - Pre-Meet Inspiration from the Coaches!

Friday, July 28

• POSTER MAKING, 8:30am - 1:00pm.  Make a spirited poster and bring it to the DCSL Championship on Saturday. We will hang them in our team area!
• Finally, please be advised that the Secret Seahorse often visits the homes of swimmers age 10 & Under, to drop off a special treat on the Friday before the championship meet!

My original plan was to include Championship Meet information in this email, but it has gotten quite long so I’ll send those meet details in a separate communication. For now, the one important reminder is: If you have not yet sent your Job Substitute information to Sarah and Heather, please do so ASAP (due date was yesterday): [email protected].
