DCSL Championship Notes for Day 2

Hi Seahorse Families -

Thank you all for bringing your spirit, sportsmanship and speed to our first day of the DCSL Championship!   There were some really exciting races today, and I know we are all looking forward to more great swimming tomorrow.

Thank you also for your patience with the parts of the day that were challenging.  As you know, this year's meet is a totally different format from the past, requiring our volunteer board of directors and many job workers to adopt new processes.  The board is eager to make Day 2 great, and we wanted to share a few notes that will help smooth some wrinkles:

  • The Hallway between the 10U check-in and the pool deck will be closed prior to the meet starting at 9:00 AM. Swimmers will need to walk around the school building to get to/from warmups.
  • No parents will be allowed behind blocks during warmups (AM or PM).
  • 6U Backstrokers will be instructed by Coaches to get out of Warmups at 8:40 AM, and go straight to the Clerk of Course for check-in.
  • The Clerk prefers that swimmers' HANDS are marked, rather than shoulders (given the cold weather and parka use). Please mark swimmers for both Prelims and Finals.
  • It’s OK for swimmers to wear shoes and jackets in the Clerk. They can drop them off at a designated spot as they enter the deck, and then grab after their race.
  • Absolutely NO pickup/drop-off/unloading in the upper parking lot unless you have a designated parking pass for that area. In all areas, please be respectful of the parking lot monitors.
  • Remember to THOROUGHLY clean up our team area, and any common areas that seem to need attention.
  • If you aren’t sure whether or not your swimmer made a Final, check Time Drops (meet code 2024), or the printed results sheets which are posted near clerk entrances. Results will also be displayed on deck tomorrow.
  • Swim offs will be communicated to coaches directly, and it will be up to coaches to communicate with parents/swimmers.
  • If your swimmer is a Finals Alternate, please have them check in at the Clerk.  If you wish to have an opportunity for another swim, and there ends up being an open lane, Alternates must be fully checked in and waiting nearby.
  • Alternates are clearly listed as 21st and 22nd place in the preliminary results.
  • Finals heat sheets will be posted near the clerk entrances and on deck.

As a reminder, the order of events tomorrow is as follows:

  • Backstroke Prelims
  • Butterfly Prelims
  • 7/8 and 9/10 IM Timed Finals
  • ((BREAK))
  • Backstroke Finals
  • Butterfly Finals
  • Free Relay Timed Finals
  • Coaches / Moms / Dads Relays
  • Freestyle Relay

Let's rock Day 2!  Go Seahorses!
